Having worked for years as a midwife on rotating, rostered shifts, I have no problems with understanding the bodily upset to an ever-changing sleep schedule. For years, my sleep hygiene was pretty dirty; in fact, it took three years post-retirement before I realized that I now had a "normal" sleep/wake pattern and didn't feel constantly fatigued.
As a breastfeeding mother of three, who were mothered similarly, I can speak to the individuality of children. My children hit that golden moment of sleeping through the night at three months old, three and a half years old and 18 months old. Now all adults, they are clearly three individual personalities!
I am also left wondering how totally destroying normal physiology by administering cross sex hormones is affecting cognitive functioning in those who identify as transgender.
Thank you so much for this comment. It is a brilliant retrospective analysis of your experiences. If only more people could see the clear patterns and biology as you did, parenting would go much more smoothly.
Regarding the issue of hormone administration, your intuition is correct. The idea that you can change an organism so that it conforms to your preconceived ideas of what it should be, without doing profound damage, is ludicrous at best. The arrogance and ignorance of those who think otherwise is somewhat remarkable to me.
Simply paying attention to the list of undesired side effects for any pharmaceutical drug should convince anyone that unintended — and often quite deleterious — consequences are part and parcel of drug administration.
Any insights for those of us who experience RLS? (Restless Leg Syndrome)
Already following all your sleep hygiene tips. I treay it with A CBD gummy 45 minutes before bedtime and three vape THC mild hits. Problem is dry eyes from the vape. I use Sentane individual doses.
Unfortunately, I do not know anything at all about the syndrome. It did, however, affect me for a period of time several years ago. I don’t know why it started, and I don’t know why it mysteriously stopped.
All I could do was get up and walk around a bit and, sometimes, take a Tylenol or Naprosyn. That seemed to work for me, although I am certainly not suggesting it for anyone else.
Wonderful explanation about how an emergent property occurs. And just how important patterning is for childhood development... in this case, sleep. I did a little experiment in my primary classes between the student's height and typical amount of sleep and discovered there was a fairly reliable indicator between shortest kids compared to their taller peers based on the amount of sleep regularly obtained. Not causal, of course, but a pretty strong correlation.

I wish you the very best with this.

Thank you so much for your comment... Your comparison between height and sleep is fantastic, and very thought provoking. Thank you again, Frederick
